To Sophia

Transcription

To Sophia Sweet sister, when your soft eyes bend In pensive sadness, o’er these lines; Let fancy, fondest mem’ries blend Of by-gone times. Forever like a star of light Thou hast, my sister, been to me; And when I would see all look bright, I turn to thee. Nor have I ever turned in vain To see with love, thy fair face shine; It half-robbed sorrow of its pain, That voice of thine. And oft it cheers my heart to know, Wherever I be, that prayers of thine Nightly, from pure lips warmly flow, For [weal?] of mine. Loved sister, hear my wish for thee, Good angels guard thee from all care, And oh: may we though parted be, A heaven share. Jinnie
